Vibrant paintings, inspired by the sea
the maritime artist
Peter Nottrott
Some of my steps on my journey to being an artist:

-
born in 1962 in Nübelfeld / Flensburg, Germany / close to the Baltic Sea
We grew up with the Baltic Sea because of where we lived; the impressions of the sea, beaches, shells, wind and waves are all part of my DNA. My father certainly contributed significantly to the fact that I am an artist today and paint maritime pictures. He was very creative and wanted to become an artist himself, but due to the greater difficulties of becoming and artist at the time, he decided against it and became a creative pastor. He also encouraged a lot of creativity in his family and supported his children's creativity andpPainting played an increasingly important role in my life. Between the ages of 16 and 18, my desire to become an artist grew, which ultimately led to me earning my first small income.
While my focus is abstract painting, maritime painting has proven to be a valuable broadening of horizons.
-
studied at the private artschool “JAK” in Hamburg / Germany
During this time I dealt intensively with the techniques of painting. I tried them out, refined them and got inspired. At the same time I enjoyed the valueable exchange with other artists.
-
worked since 1987 as a full time freelance artis

It was a brave decision to be an independent artist. In the beginning I was as much life artist as a paint artist... but I was able to develop continuously: I expanded my knowledge, collected and evaluated experiences. I have had my own website since 1999 and have been able to continually expand my presence on the Internet with the help of various international art marketplaces. My maritime paintings have been online since 2017. Of course, they also continue to develop, for example I am constantly exploring new motifs and formats

now lives Flensburg / north of Germany at the baltic sea
My studio is in the heart of Flensburg, in the main pedestrian zone. I can now happily look at a large number of painted maritime pictures, most of which have already been sold! My gratitude goes to all those who contributed: first to all people who fell in love with the picture and now have it hanging on their wall, but also to the teams from the transport companies, the teams of the art marketplaces and of course my family and friends.
